Many people believe Slavery ended in the 19th Century but, Modern Slavery still exists in every country around the world.  Slavery is illegal everywhere but it continues to thrive all around us and it impacts across every level of the UK society.

The Modern Day Slavery Courses is an interactive course which defines Modern Slavery and explains the different forms of contemporary slavery.  It successfully provides the information your employees need to identify slavery in society and in your organisation.  Additionally, delegates are provided with guidelines to promote good business practice and  how to safely report cases of exploitation.

Modern forms of slavery can include debt bondage, where a person is forced to work for free to pay off a debt, child slavery, forced marriage, domestic servitude and forced labour, where victims are made to work through violence and intimidation.

The 2016 Global Slavery Index, from the Walk Free Foundation in Australia, defines slavery as “situations of exploitation that a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, abuse of power or deception”.

The Modern Day Slavery Course, defines Modern Day Slavery and using everyday scenarios, provides examples of Modern Slavery.  Users will understand the characteristics and conditions slavery can take and will be able to identify potential cases of exploitation in both their social and work environment.

A detailed section of this course explains current UK legislation, where to go for advice and how to report any concerns. Additionally, the Modern Day Slavery Course, effectively explains how in some organisations, supply chains, can conceal illegal exploitation.  Delegates completing this course will understand the importance of supply chain transparency, the required annual slavery report and human trafficking statements long with good business practice.
