According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations,The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations, The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations, The Manual Handling Operations Regulations, The Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations. As a manager, you are also accountable for the safety of people under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act.

It highlights why it is important for managers to have an understanding of Health and Safety law. In addition, it describes their responsibilities under current legislation.
