A code of conduct lays out an organisation’s expectations and guiding principles for appropriate workplace behaviour, promoting good judgement in everyday work decisions.  These guidelines protect both the organisation and individual’s reputation. A company’s Code of Conduct also provides legal and ethical guidelines for the relationship between employees, service users and clients.

This Code of Conduct eLearning Course, defines ethics (principles that govern personal behaviour), ethical values (values that determine what is right and wrong) and ethical issues (problems where an organisation has to choose between right and wrong).  Ethical values include, integrity, respect, loyalty, accountability and performance.

Successful completion of this course will help users understand what constitutes misconduct and the consequences of misconduct.  Misconduct includes theft, falsifying records, aggressive behaviour, intimidation and threats. Action taken against employees who don’t comply with the expected standards may face counselling, disciplinary action, civil or criminal action.

This Code of Conduct eLearning Course, explains the importance of an ethical and legal framework, highlighting the behaviour expected between work colleagues, service users and customers.  Employee professionalism, the Equality Act, Substance Misuse, IT Security, the use of Social Media and Information Protection are all discussed within this unit.

Additionally, users will learn what to do in specific situations such as, accepting gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest and how to report any concerns of misconduct.
