This Food Safety Online Course provides users with an understanding of what food hygiene is and how it can have an impact of human health. Additionally, the course explains the importance of having a clean working environment. This includes, the use of hygienic equipment and work areas. Good personal hygiene standards are very important. The correct temperature control when cooking and chilling food is described throughout the course. Delegates will learn that unhygienic practices can cause bacteria to be deposited on food while it is being handled. Some examples are: leaving food uncovered and touching parts of the body while handling food.  If a person’s hands are not washed before handling food, bacteria will be passed on to the food.

Food safety and hygiene is mostly concerned with avoiding food poisoning. The symptoms of food poisoning are fully explained and those individuals who are more at risk, are highlighted.  The course also describes how bacteria can multiply very quickly.  Additionally, the information educates users on the difference between food poisoning and food allergies  Symptoms of food allergies both mild and severe and the potential impact on health is explained. A comprehensive allergen list is provided and the significance of cross contamination is outlined.
